Honkytonk Fairytale - ERNEST

I thought there might be a genie
In the bottom of this bottle but there ain't
I learned the hard way
Thought I could click these boots together
That'd take me back to better weather
Mm, when I had you and we had everything

So I'll just close my eyes
And find that sweet escape

To where that neon turns to dawn
House band plays our favorite songs
And we always got the dance floor to ourselves
Bartenders know us by our names
Don't ask or charge us for our drinks
Well whiskey works just like a wishing well
There ain't no last calls, ain't no last dance
Ain't no goodbyes, ain't no chance
I'll have to come back to this heartbroke lonely hell
That's my honkytonk fairytale

I wish this dusty rug was magic carpet
Take me back to where we started
That little bar off of 18th Avenue
Sometimes I swear I hear you in the wind
You say you're coming back again
But it's only ever in my mind

So I close my eyes
And chase the light

To where that neon turns to dawn
House band plays our favorite songs
And we always got the dance floor to ourselves
Bartenders know us by our names
Don't ask or charge us for our drinks
Well whiskey works just like a wishing well
There ain't no last calls, ain't no last dance
Ain't no goodbyes, ain't no chance
I'll have to come back to this heartbroke lonely hell
That's my honkytonk fairytale

If I drink all this bourbon
It'll either stop the hurting
Or I'll get to stay forever there this time

Where the neon turns to dawn
House band plays them Whitley songs
And we always got the dance floor to ourselves
Bartenders know us by our names
Don't ask or charge us for our drinks
Well whiskey works just like a wishing well
There ain't no last calls, ain't no last dance
Ain't no goodbyes, ain't no chance
I'll have to come back to this heartbroke lonely hell
That's my honkytonk fairytale
Mm, my honkytonk fairytale
