Here lies country music - HARDY

Well, here lies country music, had a damn good run
It took its last Nashville lap around a "Ring of Fire" sun
Jack Daniel's in the front row, right next to steel guitar
The headline said, the cause of death was a lonely broken heart

'Cause you can't cheat on the radio or be proud of where you're from
Trucks ran out of red dirt roads and beer quit getting you drunk
Yeah, the thing about all good things is they all come to an end
So here lies country music, rest easy, my old friend, yeah

It had a couple close calls with names that I won't mention
But it stayed strong with "Always On My Mind" and "Family Tradition"
Helped people through some hard times, more times than you can count
So you hate to see three chords and the truth six feet in the ground

'Cause you can't cheat on the radio or be proud of where you're from
Trucks ran out of red dirt roads and beer quit getting you drunk
Yeah, the thing about all good things is they all come to an end
So here lies country music, rest easy, my old friend, oh

I woke up in a cold sweat to my alarm clock radio
A new song came on about a honky-tonk drunk heart that just got broke
And I said, "Thank you, Jesus," that dream was all made up
And I pray that I leave this world before country music does

When you can't cheat on the radio or be proud of where you're from
When trucks run out of red dirt roads and beer quits getting you drunk
Yeah, I'll tell you some crazy words I never wanna say again
Here lies country music, rest easy, my old friend

Thank you, country music, amen
